You should always have that blubbery saleswoman staffing your camera department bugger off to her colleagues, come back flustered and say the following:
“are ya shurrre you know what you’re talking about? I’ve never heard of an RCA input”
Me: “Urr - the red, yellow and white plugs?”
“Sounds like ya talkin’ a loada old rubbish if yer ask me”.
Despite my enormous misgivings about Freema Agyeman (About as wooden in her care-and-you’d-miss-it appearence as “Nondescript Torchwood cannon fodder #2) I am pleased as pie that the charming one is back. Barely weeks ago I was moaning about how RTD had gone back on his promise that Jack would return to the core show, I’m pleased as punch.
Now all we have to do is get rid of ol’ Martha Whocaresshe’snotbillie* and we can have Dave & John’s TARDIS o’Fun.
Does anyone out there in the internets have a torrent of The Adam and Joe Show? The TV Series? Despite being urged to purchase the DVD by Adam himself (hurr) I already own the video and resent paying twice for the same thing. Secondly, since it is only 80 minutes, and they usually excise the bulk of the good material (i.e. the stuff in the Studio & OB), I’d like to get a second proper look at the series altogether.
Yes, it’s okay to like Ronan Keating’s “All Over Again”.
I know it’s normally okay to like anything that Nazi does, but you’re fine this time.
You see, firstly, the song’s good, which means that he didn’t write it. She probably did.
Secondly, that’s Kate Rusby, irish folkette, who used to be part of the folk rock supergroup Equation with the Lakeman brothers. (She did get ousted by Cara Dillon, but then if Rusby wouldn’t put out for Lakeman the elder, what else could they do?)
Thirdly, since the Lakeman brothers & Dillon are both spearheading the awesome folk revival at the moment, and Seth was nominated for a mercury, he’s “good music”.
Admittedly, Seth would be brilliant without the mercury, but I doubt I’d have heard of him unless HMV canterbury had played him non-stop to celebrate his nomination.
So yeah. You can listen to this Ronan video, no shame. Just this once mind. I’m not going soft.
I’m quite ambivalent about the news that The Shield is getting a Seventh season, mostly because I had reconciled Season 6 to be the conclusion and I’m very unsure how they are going to spin it out for, what’s going to total up to 23 more hours of the show.
Wheras I liked what sci-fi did by breaking up BSG into two blocks of ten episodes, breaking over the Christmas of 2005, I can’t say that Shawn Ryan & Co really plotted out the Shield’s trajectory so well, mostly because whilst the final episode with “the grenade” (I shall say no more for those who are yet to see it) was brilliant, Forrest Whittaker seems to be far less of a threat now, meaning that the final ten episodes are going to be oddly reminiscent of Buffy’s 6th season (i.e. Main bad guy is in fact not the evil outsider, but the good guy gone bad). Either way, in my minds’ eye - it seems hard that once they’ve resolved all of that baggage can they then force Vic (and whoever else survives his revenge) back into the Barn for another 13.
The other proposition is that this stuff isn’t resolved until 7.13 - which would mean that the show will be yanking Vic around the last three months before his retirement ad nauseum, and that’ll just turn the whole damn thing into “Pricktease: The Series 2″ (For the first, I refer you to Lost).
And no show that’s been this good deserves to become a pricktease for it’s conclusion.
Okay, well two more thoughts that are small, one which is quite honestly a small thought, since it’s only ten seconds long, and then my Magnum Opiate, Small Thoughts 6. Taking over three weeks to prepare since I shot my “angry rant against Sandi Thom” about six times, before scrapping the whole thing and providing a far more practical argument. Warning - this video is so good I’ve gotten enraged Sandi Thom fans giving me one star ratings because they hate me. This concerns me, because I’m sure it means I’m being stalked by the friends and fans of girlbands I mention on here. Either way

Dan flexes his lyrical muscles and responds to the blinkered middle class recidividist that is Sandi Thom:
and finally, today I achieved something of notoriety, when I had an article published on Conversation Among the Ruins, Kent’s premier alternative politics & arts magazine:
